The MOCHA Center is pleased to announce the launch of online ticket sales for the Pre-New Year’s Masquerade Extravaganza! We are very excited to host a major event to raise funds for the MOCHA Center. Join the MOCHA Center in an evening of entertainment to close out 2012 and bring in 2013. The Masquerade Extravaganza is an opportunity to dress up, network, celebrate, dance and enjoy the holidays.

The VIBE Lounge, located in the Village Gate, is our venue. Activities begin at 8pm and lasts until 2am. It is a 21+ Affair with a cash bar. The Pre-Event entertainment will include performances, music, free hors d’oeuvres, silent auction, and a few other surprises. You must try the MOCHA Signature Drink. The dancing begins at 10pm with DJ Reign. Come Early!!!

Tickets Online $30 plus 2.64 transaction fee = $32.64 – On Sale NOW until Friday, December 28 @ 5pm Eastern (see link below). We are using EventBrite to handle the online transactions, so there is a transaction fee but it guarantees that you will be celebrating at the Masquerade Extravaganza.

Wear a Mask — It is a Masquerade Party — The MOCHA Center is selling 150 Hand Decorated Masks for $5.00 which can be purchased with online tickets. The purchased masks will be available as guest check in on December 29th. We may have a few additional ones at the door. We will have a Best Mask Contest — Let your creativity flow!

The MOCHA Center Celebrates MOCHA Weekend 2012

The MOCHA Center, Inc. is proud to celebrate MOCHA Weekend August 9 – 12, 2012. MOCHA Weekend is a joint celebration of Black Pride in Rochester and Buffalo. As a member of the International Federation of Black Prides, we are excited to celebrate the diversity of our Black LGBTQ communities.  

For over 10 years, the MOCHA Center has sponsored MOCHA Weekend as an opportunity to reach various communities in Buffalo and Rochester. The events provide visibility for the organization as well as educate various communities on HIV/AIDS and other health and wellness issues. Considering the state of HIV/AIDS in Western New York and the impact to various communities of color, our presence in the community is essential in combatting the rise of HIV/AIDS in our communities.  

This year we are rebranding MOCHA Weekend as well as bringing both Buffalo and Rochester closer together. Instead of cookouts in both cities, we decide to host one cookout this year in Rochester and rotate it to Buffalo next year. The MOCHA Weekend 2012 events are as follows: 

Reception & Awards Ceremony  

Thursday, August 9, 2012 – 6:00pm – 9:00pm

The MOCHA Center will recognize and present awards to organizations and individuals that provided outstanding support over the past year. Free hors d’oeuvres and a cash bar.

The Annual Cookout

Saturday, August 11, 2012 – 12:00pm – 6:00pm
Thomas X. Grasso Erie Canal Lodge, Greece Canal Park, Greece, NY

(PLEASE NOTE: This is a NEW SITE — the earlier location has been changed to the Thomas X. Grasso Erie Canal Lodge) 

Have a fun day with the MOCHA Center in Greece Canal Park. Socialize with members of Rochester & Buffalo communities. Enjoy the free food, music, and fun activities.

 FREE Shuttle Bus (BUFFALO – Greece Canal Park) 

Departs at 10:00am from MOCHA Center Buffalo and arrives at Greece Canal Park at 11:15am. Leaves Greece Canal Park at 6:00pm and arrives at the MOCHA Center Buffalo at 7:15pm. Bus space is limited to 56 passengers and you must reserve your seat.

Departs at 12:00pm from the MOCHA Center Rochester and arrives at Greece Canal Park at 12:30pm. Leaves Greece Canal Park at 5:00pm and arrives at the MOCHA Center Rochester at 5:30pm. Bus space is limited to 56 passengers and you must reserve your seat.

Sunday Fellowship Service

The Unity Fellowship Church in partnership with the MOCHA Center is having a Sunday Fellowship Service in honor of MOCHA Weekend. Join us as we uplift our spirits on Sunday afternoon. A reception will follow.
